MSC Malaysia IAP
The International Advisory Panel (IAP) advises the Prime Minister of Malaysia on technology and wealth creation issues. An impressive line-up of high profile thought leaders, top mix of industry luminaries and panel members have unrivaled access to the premier and other top government officials and help design policies and programs that will shape the country for generations to come.
The IAP Meeting attendees who are chosen for their expertise and influence will also have the opportunity to network with their peers as well as government and industry decision makers in the resort like setting of Cyberjaya - the nation's ICT hub and Putrajaya, the administrative capital of Malaysia.
Malaysia's national ICT initiative, MSC Malaysia, is now over a decade old and things have changed drastically since its inception in 1996.
Technology has advanced at a breathtaking pace since then, altering the way the world lives, plays, does business and even its politics. Consequently, policies have to be adjusted accordingly.
The IAP is in fact recognized as the highest level advisory think tank group to the Prime Minister of Malaysia and valued as a structured platform for the government to obtain accurate, timely and expert advice on technology and related matters.
Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) is the government agency tasked with driving the development of MSC Malaysia. It has organized an annual IAP sessions starting with the inaugural meeting at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California on January 16, 1997.
That meeting broke new ground as it was the first time such a distinguished group of industry leaders has assembled in one room to provide counsel to a government on how to create an ideal environment for technology.
The agency also nurtured MSC Malaysia into what it is today – a vibrant ICT community where local start ups and multinationals create products and provide services not only in Malaysia but increasingly internationally.
