Timothy C. Forbes serves as Chairman of Forbes Digital, a member of the Board of Forbes Media and one of the company’s chief strategists. Previously he was President and Chief Operating Officer, responsible for the day-to-day operations of Forbes’ magazines and Forbes business divisions. He was also involved in the strategic planning and business development of the company, and he served as Chairman of Forbes.com.
Mr. Forbes joined the company in 1986, after negotiating the acquisition of the American Heritage division, where he served as President. Prior to this, he was an award-winning documentary film producer and screenwriter. His films on historical subjects and current affairs have been broadcast nationally on PBS.
During Mr. Forbes' tenure, the company has expanded the magazine’s international reach in Europe, Asia and the Middle East with the launch of Forbes Asia and Forbes licensee editions published in Africa, Argentina, Bulgaria, China, Czech Republic, Croatia, India, Indonesia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Korea, Latvia, Middle East, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Turkey and Ukraine.
The company’s flagship publication is Forbes, the nation’s leading business magazine, with a North American circulation of more than 900,000. Forbes, Forbes Asia, with a circulation of 80,000, and the company's 13 licensee editions together reach a worldwide audience of over 6 million readers. Forbes also publishes ForbesLife, the dedicated lifestyle magazine, and ForbesWoman, providing Forbes' community of executive women with luxury lifestyle content that they value and respect, in print and online. Another division of the company is Forbes Investors Advisory Institute.
In 1996 Forbes entered the new media arena with the launch of Forbes.com. Now averaging 17 million unique monthly visitors, it has become a leading destination site for senior business decision-makers and investors. Other Forbes Web sites are: RealClearPolitics.com; RealClearMarkets.com; RealClearSports.com; RealClearWorld.com and the Forbes.com Business and Finance Blog Network. Together with Forbes.com, these sites reach nearly 40 million business decision-makers each month.
Mr. Forbes is a Fellow Emeritus of Brown University, and he formerly served as President of the Margaret Thatcher Foundation. He received an AB with honors from Brown University in 1976, and an honorary doctorate (L.H.D.) from Brown University in 1996. Mr. Forbes is married to Anne S. Harrison. They have two children.
